I've always liked the original. I thought at the time I first read it in the late seventies, Thanks God! An Ezra Pound poem I actually get.

This reminds me of a wee poem I wrote a few years ago after the William Carlos Williams poem 'This is Just to Say':


PREMEDITATION

(in memoriam W.C.W.)

There are plums
in the fridge:

tonight
will be
a night

for writing
poetry.

I wrote my first imitation of this Pound couplet or haiku in 1962.And,yes,it's nice to find a Pound poem that doesn't require all sorts of reference books.
