Why I Am Not A Painter

I heard that some artist
had put sardines in his painting
so I put sardines in my poem,

but after a few days
I couldn’t stand the stench anymore.
It smelled like a decomposing Frank O’Hara.

I keep a link to your site because
when I feel I need a mood lift, I
sometimes come here to read a few
of your poems. This is not to say
your poems aren't serious since
some of them are obviously so, but
rather to say that many of them
have a spicy wittiness rarely found
in the general run of poems.

Reyes, whether it is sardines or a decomposing Frank O'Hara, you are a source of inspiration... Brian is right, there is sanity here! Rgds, Ivan

Thanks,Ivan.Unfortunately,I can't take the credit for this poem. It's just a reworking of one of Frank's poems.
